Assassin's Creed Introduces Unexpected AoT Crossover for Thanksgiving
In a bizarre collaboration that breaks traditional expectations, the game developer has unveiled an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, including free extra story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Adventure Revealed
According to the official announcement, "A strange meeting leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where hints of prohibited practices and terrifying metamorphoses resonate through the darkness." The storyline introduces a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a clandestine sect.
The questline focuses on "strange experiments and a terrifying foe" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Familiar Settings and Transformations
The teaser showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview ends with a striking scene showing a character, presumably the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Items and Additional Features
Players who successfully complete the mission will receive an exclusive katana alongside several artifacts secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Unique weapons
- Survey Corps mount
Latest Free Story Content
This patch also brings the game's newest free story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange distinctive abilities: Naoe reveals a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also features a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Previous Japanese Animation Collaborations
This represents scarcely the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime properties. The series earlier featured a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally contained a quest that unmistakably nodded to the popular series One-Punch Man.
