Canada's Blue Jays Claim World Series Showdown Versus the Dodgers
The outfielder contributed to the Astros claiming the World Series in 2017.
The Toronto Blue Jays reached their initial World Series following 1993 by beating the Mariners in the seventh game seven of the ALCS.
Behind 3-1, the star outfielder delivered a three-run blast in the seventh frame, leading the only Canadian franchise in MLB to a 4-3 series triumph in the best-of-seven series. Awaiting them are the Dodgers, who are the reigning title, in the upcoming Fall Classic.
"It's incredible for our team, Toronto, the nation," said Springer, a key player of the Astros team that won the 2017 title. "What an incredible feeling."
George Springer has now hit 23 October home runs, placing him third on the list after Manny Ramirez (29) and Altuve (27).
"I can't think of another player on planet Earth that I want up in that moment except for Springer with his October magic," noted manager John Schneider.
Seattle, despite leading the early in the series, are still the only MLB franchise that has never reached in a World Series.
Wilson commented "there's no question that it's painful" in the wake of his team's loss at Rogers Centre, but praised their work in the campaign.
"This is a unique group. Sadly that we ended up on the wrong side of this game," he added.
The Blue Jays claimed the World Series on their two prior appearances in 1992 and 1993, and are set to host the Los Angeles in the opener on the upcoming Friday.
