19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player secured his first trophy for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a former world number one, has endured a challenging year, managing just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in particular - led to him falling of the elite rankings and finally separating with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first title since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court since March of that year.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters together, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his last six finals, including in Halle previously this season.

The player's defensive approach and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had led commentators to doubt if his skill to perform at the elite level was concluded.

However the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and play assertively, backed up by an enhanced service.

The champion recovered from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the concluding five points to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his initial tour championship, gained dominance to create a final set.

The opponent defended 4 initial break points in a tight third set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner secured the win with a shot at the net area, with Moutet incapable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
