David Walliams lost his contract with longtime publisher.

The comedian

Best-selling writer for children and comedian David Walliams has been dropped by his publisher HarperCollins UK, as confirmed by the firm.

A spokesman for the company commented: "After careful consideration, and under the leadership of its fresh leadership, HarperCollins UK has decided not to publish future works by David Walliams."

It has been reported that the move was reached following an inquiry regarding claims about inappropriate behaviour involving women.

The publisher declined to specify the reasons for its decision, noting: "We do not comment on confidential company decisions."

An Illustrious Publishing History

Walliams ranks among Britain's most prolific writers for young readers, having sold more than 60 million copies globally in 55 languages.

His inaugural foray into kids' literature, *The Boy in the Dress*, was released through HarperCollins back in 2008.

Several of his books, such as *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have found new life as television films.

His bibliography includes over four dozen titles altogether, including a Christmas book called *Santa & Son*, which came out under HarperCollins in October.

From Screen to Page

His career breakthrough occurred on the broadcast sketch program *Little Britain* and has additionally received National Television Awards for his role as a panelist on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He was awarded an OBE in 2017 for his services to charity and the arts.

The publisher's decision comes after the naming of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's freshly installed boss this past October.
