Edwards and O'Neil are two of the initial candidates in the frame to succeed Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The previous coach was dismissed on Sunday following the team's ten-game without a victory start to the top-flight campaign.

Furthermore both candidates - each of whom have previous associations to the team - are among the options to be considered by the club ownership.

Nevertheless the ex- Luton Town head coach - who played more than 100 of appearances for the club during his time as a player - is considered a strong contender for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys backing from the Wolves directors as they start the search of appointing a new head coach.

O'Neil is additionally emerging as a unexpected candidate, even though he would be a surprising choice considering he was released by Wolves in December last year.
