Approximately 55,000 households have so far been harmed by the weather, with their belongings and dwellings destroyed.

Intense rains over the recent period have worsened the extremely difficult circumstances of the hundreds of thousands of uprooted residents in the Gaza Strip, as reported by relief agencies.

"Terrible" Weather Creates Severe Risks

A spokesman detailed the recent storm as "awful", with rain so heavy that around 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the streets.

"The recent weather was truly difficult for the families. The downpours were so strong... And the winds were so forceful," stated the representative.

There is grave concern that young ones residing in tents in wet garments will succumb to hypothermia and additional sicknesses.

Deaths and Extensive Destruction

Health authorities have stated that one baby has succumbed from exposure and no fewer than 11 other people have died in roof cave-ins due to the harsh conditions.

Further statements indicate a higher death toll. Spokespeople said that multiple structures had collapsed completely and scores had been partly destroyed.

  • Roughly 55,000 families impacted by rains.
  • More than 40 designated refuges inundated.
  • Countless residents required to find new shelter.

Aid Distribution Seen as Insufficient

Organizations have stepped up deliveries of tents, blankets and garments following the truce commenced, but they emphasize there is continues to be not enough aid reaching those in need.

"Agencies are working relentlessly to bring in that aid and to hand it out, but the scale of the requirements is so immense that we continue to see a great number of individuals and children who are really enduring hardship every night," cautioned one spokesperson.

Future Concerns and Truce Provisions

The second phase of the truce involves plans for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the removal of military forces, and other conditions.

Aid bodies have underscored the necessity for "greater and continuous relief to respond to pressing and ongoing requirements."

The hostilities was initiated by an assault in October 2023. Following actions have caused a high number of lives lost in the region, as per medical reports.
