The Renowned Musician Urges Public Help to Get Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A fundraising initiative is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The project hopes to send support to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
An Opportunity for Support and an "Surprise Victory"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to support Palestinians during the holidays. He acknowledged the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be incredible if that occurred, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely let down if it doesn't manage to, festive releases are a category of their own.”
Defiant Message of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.
“It has a deeply meaningful spot for countless listeners,” Barghouti shared. “It’s basically saying that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Track's Background and Featured Artists
The single was laid down after a large-scale benefit event held in September. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the rendition was omitted from the lengthy event due to time constraints.
The diverse array of musicians contributing to Lullaby features a group of acclaimed names from the industry. All were part of the benefit event, which successfully generated a substantial amount for relief efforts.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was crafted by a team of music creators. The song showcases a mix of the traditional Arabic lyrics with contemporary English verses.
The group managing the campaign have clarified that their goal is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These donations will be distributed to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.
“We haven't set a fixed goal,” a representative said. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Obviously, the greater the amount, the better. Every penny goes out to those in need in Gaza.”
The reality in the territory was noted for its widespread damage, with a overwhelming percentage of property described as destroyed or damaged.
“In that context, a few million won't make an enormous impact. But I think what truly matters is above all spreading knowledge of this plight and demonstrating that another narrative exists.”
The song is launching on Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made ready to watch on a popular streaming site from later in the month.
